wedding invitations

My step son Nicky and his fiancee are getting married in October in Gretna Green. There are 45 close family going so only 17 invitations needed :o) Of course smarty pants me says "oh we can make them as complicated as we want" What a thing to say lol

LeeAnne had an idea what she wanted, she wanted little pockets to put the rsvp card and directions to the wedding, she had sketched out a trifold card. So I had a bit of a play and ended up making it gatefold with the pockets on each of the small flaps. She wanted pink as her colour originally and then she found her perfect dress which has a black ribbon under the bust. I just happened to have this spotty paper and she fell in love with it!! In fact she loves it so much she is having a polka dot wedding cake to match :o)

The stamp on the front as well as the cake on the rsvp card I found on ebay. We both fell for the Charles Rennie MacIntosh style stamp. The ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons and the paper is by Anne Stemplewska from Anna Marie Designs

This is the rsvp card, it is a dinky size, 9.5cm x 6cm! It fits in the wee envelopes you get with flowers :o)

Can you believe I forgot to take pics of them when I finished them at the weekend? What a total numptie I am ~ I was so excited to get them finished that I gave them to her then and there!! I had to wait til our invitation arrived in the post today lol As Nicky and LeeAnne already live together I said that the invitations, place cards and favour boxes would be our present to them. I am also going to do some thankyou cards for them as well.

The happy couple are very happy with them, in fact LeeAnne loves them! She loves how funky they are (oh to be 25 again and happy with funkyness lol)

And finally.......

Card number 3!! I couldn't decide which child to send a card to on Post Pals so I made one boys and one girls card. The boy I am sending this to is called Charlie. I used the sketch at Carols Sketch Fun; Lili of the Valley want paper piecing and over at Charisma cardz there is no theme.

Image: unknown stamp it was a gift
Papers and cardstock: Stampin Up
Sentiment: Dovecraft
Also used: Fiskars border punch
OOPS just realised it has Happy Birthday on it...............off now to cover it up with another circle of paper ~ what a numptie I am lol

card number 2 :o)

Ok onto card number 2...........there is an absolutely fabulous cause over at Daring cardmakers: make a kids card and send it to one of the kids at Post Pals and I made this card to be sent to one of the girls called Megan. I used the sketch from Just Magnolia. it also qualifies for Papertake Weekly who want us to use downloads, Colour Create want Pistachio Green, Light Pink and Aqua
Image: Magnolia coloured with PMs and Whispers
Papers: Gorjuss Ginghams download from Funky Fairy
Flowers, hearts and buttons: from stash
Also used: Martha Stewart border punch, argyll embossing folder for cuttlebug

busy morning!

I originally went to the craft table to tidy up this morning but I ended up sitting down and making 3 cards!!

The first one is using the Penny Black Saturday Challenge sketch and the theme of embellishments over at Stamp Something. The card is going to be for my nephew who is has his forst birthday in a couple of weeks, this one will be from Lily.

Image: Penny Black
Sentiment: Lili of the Valley
Papers, cardstock, ribbons and buttons: all Stampin Up
Also used: ribbon slider die in cuttlebug
Back soon with the next card :o)

Week 38 at Just Christmas and Birthday Cards

Morning girlies I hope you all had a fabulous sunny weekend! We had a lovely day yesterday just relaxing round the house and even had a nap in the afternoon......ahhh bliss :o)

So today I am feeling relaxed and ready for the last week of school, only 3 and a half days to go til the Summer Hols. I still work but not full time in the holidays which is lovely, I usually get the afternoons just me and Lily which is fab.

Anyway onto the sketch from Janina this week at Just Christmas and Birthday Cards..........it's a tricky one ~ but you'll love it. This week I made a Christmas tag, either for a present or maybe as a decoration for the tree.

Image: Sugar Nellie coloured with PMs

Paper: free with a magazine

Cardstock: Stampin Up

brad, gems and ribbon: all from stash

also used: snowflake die in cuttlebug, swiss dots embossing folder and stickles

I really hope you'll join us this week :o)

Sunday School Picnic

Well we ended up having a really lovely day yasterday................not a drop of rain which was a result as it looked like showers when I got up! The sun came out now and then in the morning and it was just warm enough for all the walking around we were doing. The picnic was fab, lots of lovely sandwiches and best of all Betty's famous Marsbar Crispy Cake (oooohhhh yummmm she makes it for all picnics and parties cos we all loves it so much lol)

We took the kids to the Highland Wildlife Park which is in the next village and is fabulous. We recently got some Amur Tigers (they used to be called Siberian Tigers) and they just had cubs 7 weeks ago so we were all eager to see them. I LOVE tigers they are just gorgeous animals, so I was in my element! We also saw Snow Monkeys, Wolves, Wild Boar, Red Pandas, Otters and Bactrian Camels to name a few :o)

Here's some pics as promised:

how cute is this wee baby Snow Monkey??

daddy tiger getting his lunch

mummy and 2 of the cubs also at feeding time, there are three cubs the other one was hiding!

Allsorts week 7............Acetate

morning girlies!! Today we are having a second attempt at the Sunday School Picnic after last weeks heavy rain.................6 days of sunshine later and yes we have woken up to dull and showers!! It's so not fair! However, its an hour or more til we leave so who know what will happen, we have a backup plan this time so if it is wet we are going to a soft play centre instead.

Anywhoooo...........onto Allsorts week 7. This week is Jackie's theme and she wants "Acetate" I have used acetate as the base card, the papers and ribbon used are both Stamping Up, the scallops are punched circles and there is another semi circle on the inside to cover the circles on that side too. Corner scroll is a cuttlebug die.

We really hope you will join us this week and show us your gorgeous acetate creations :o)

(I'll be back tonight to tell you about the picnic, hopefully with plenty of pics!!)

retirement card

Sadly our local primary school is losing the head teacher after 23 years as she is retiring. As a memeber of the Parent Council I volunteered to make a card from the Parent Council. I decided that 23 years worth of service was worthy of a really special card. To ma special card usually means a parchment card as they take longer and just look fantastic.

The picture isn't great, there are silver flower garlands traced in the little panels and the setiment reads "wishing you well in your retirement"

It has been a while since I made a parchment card at all and even longer since I made one with this much grid work in, it took me 8 hours over 3 days!! I had forgotten how long they take lol

Fingers crossed she will like it

I do....................

Anice over at Funky Hand has made an absolutely gorgeous wordbook download perfect for the wedding season!! It is called "I Do" and I have used it to make a wordbook for hubby's niece who is getting married in July.

The papers are all neutral colours so you can pick almost any accent colour. I know the bride is partial to a wee bit of pink so I went with pink ribbons and flowers :o) The kit comes with sentiments too so I have used a few of these too. The wedding cake and champagne glasses are stamps I bought on ebay and they are being used on my step son's wedding invitations (I am starting them this week...........will show them once I have one finished!!) All of the little bits and pieces ~ buttons, flowers, brads etc are all from stash.
The wedding cake is decorated with a few wee gems so it qualifies for the Charisma Cardz challenge (it was also supposed to be for Pink Elephant's wedding theme but of course I am too late (I was just shattered last night...........I forgot how tiring pregnancy can be lol)

I can't reccommend this download highly enough it really is a stunner, the papers are fab and the wordbook pages are so easy to use.

JCBC week 37

Over at Just Christmas and Birthday Cards the sketch was set by Anne and it's a fabby one, one I will certainly be using again I think! The patterned ribbon on this card was from a blog candy so I don't know where it is from but I really like it! Papers are Papermania, buttons and pearls from stash, image is Gorjuss Girls set 2, coloured with PMs. Her wee shoes have glossy accents on again to look like patent shoes :o) I have renamed this image Lily as it is just the double of her lol This card is also for one of Lily's teachers, can't believe I am so organised this year (usually I am making them during her last day of school and have to take them at the end of the day lol) Just the presents to make now..............must check out the booze situation as there might be a riot if I don't make my boozy chocolates :o)

Sugar Bowl 13

I have made this card for one of Lily's teachers as her thankyou card for the end of the school year. Lily has a habit of folding her arms like this when she is in the huff and it looks just like her!! I am sure that the teachers have seen her in this pose many a time over the past year so I thought it was apt! The sketch at the Sugar Bowl is by Lilian and I really like how this card has turned out. I am a huge fan of the distressed look but have never really been sure of doing it myself so I hacked the edges with my scissors then inked the edges with the brown PM and with the rough edges the ink bled right in and I have to say I like it lol The flowers etc were all from stash, the charm is a wee angel like Lily (hahahahaha) The lace was won in a blog candy it is really lovely, I will have to be really stingy with it lol

After I took the pic I realised I had planned to use glossy accents on the shoes to make them look like patent ones, it is still drying though or I would have taken another pic lol

Hope you girlies have got some good weather, we have had rain all week and although my tatties are growing well I am a bit sick of it and really really want some sun!!

Cute Card Thursday and Dutch Dare Card Challenge

This card is for Ian for fathers day...........not from Lily she will be making her own at the weekend but from a new addition to the pandahouse!! Yes we are expecting the pitterpatter of a baby panda.........awww we are so excited, at the moment the date from the doctor is 27th December but I should get a better date after the scan which I should be having soon. I am approx 12 weeks gone and only did a test on Wednesday ~ yes I am a bit slow on the uptake about these things!! Mind you not as slow as with Lily I was 18 weeks pregnant when I found out that time. Sometimes I really think I should have blonde hair!!

The card meets the challenges over at Cute Card Thursday and Dutch Dare Card Challenge Cute Card Thursday's theme is "Tag You're It" and the DDCC have a colour challenge :o) The image is a FF bear one that was gifted to me in an image swap coloured with PMs and Whispers pens. The papers are Stampin Up and the ric rac I won in a blog candy. The letters were cut with my new alphabet dies on the cuttlebug (it is a cuttlekids one called Tadpole) It opens up like a card for a wee message from the bump :o)

Back in a few minutes with my Sugar Bowl entry :o)

A wee flutterby for Spoonfull of Sugar

The theme over at A Spoonfull of Sugar is butterflies..............I loves butterflies so this was no hassle for me lol I also followed the Geometric Patterns theme at Creative Card Crew and the sketch is from Carol's Sketch Fun

All papers including the butterfly and sentiment were free in a amgazine. There are 3 layers on the butterfly. The gems are from stash. I just love the soft colours on the papers, so pretty!!
Awww my hubby had some really lush flowers sent to me today for our anniversary and he came home with a lovely necklace for me too. What a sweetie :o) I will take pics tomorrow and show you.

Flowers and ribbon from stash

Can't wait to see what you'll make with Mada's sketch :o)

Shoes and ice cream.....2 of my fave things!!

I have no idea who makes this stamp as it is an image someone stamped for me but I love it!! As the post title suggests I love both shoes and ice cream so it's perfect for me lol. This card is for the challenges at: Sketch Saturday, Colour Create and Papertake Weekly. The colour theme this week is blush pink/lilac/moss green with the added challenge of die cuts, the theme at Papertake weekly set by the ever fabulous Pink Piggy is "shoes"

Image: from a friend, coloured with whispers pens

Paper: Stampin Up

Ribbon: from stash

Also used: nesties labels 3, glossy accents on cherries, white gel pen for the cream, pearls from stash

Sketch and Stash meets Penny Black

Evening girlies!! Hubby is away for the night and I have had lots of peace and quiet at the craft table :o) I have caught up on my DT work and have squeezed in a challenge or two lol

This card is for the challenge at Sketch and Stash and Penny Black Saturday Challenge. The theme over at Penny Black is "celebration" as the challenge blog is a year old this week. This week is a celebration for me too as tomorrow is my 13th wedding anniversary! So I thought it would be apt to make it my anniversary card for Ian :o) The new stash I used are the papers and I used my fabby new cropodile to set the eyelets

Image: Penny Black coloured with promarkers

Paper: Stamping Up

Eyelets: Papermania

Also used: scalloped circle nestie

Allsorts week 5

Morning girlies from a rather damp and dreich Pandahouse!! Yes today was to be the Sunday School Picnic..................so of course it is bucketing down :o( We've had to cancel it as we were going to a local Wildlife Park which is all outdoors and the animals would probably all be hiding lol So anyone near here if you're planning anything on the 27th.........plan for rain cos thats the new date for our picnic lol

Anyway onto todays Allsorts challenge!! This week Gro has set the challenge of "Triangles". Have a look on the Allsorts Challenge Blog for some fantastic DT inspiration :o)

I have to confess that I struggled a bit with the triangle theme this week. This is the third card I made, lets just say the bin got fed the other two, they just wouldn't go the way I wanted!! The papers are all by Papermania, the sentioment is a stamp I found in the 99p basket yonks ago. The triangles are edged with a brown promarker just to make them stand out a bit more then just a wee bit of doodling and it was done...........simple really don't know why it took me so long to come to it lol

The dt are all looking forward to seeing what you make this week :o)

Tuesday, 9 June 2009

wooohoooo loads of challenges on this card!

WOW I can't believe how many challenges I managed to for this card to lol I think this is the first time I have managed 5!!

At Penny Black Saturday Challenge the theme is Blooming Gorgeous; the sketch is from Polka Doodle; Dutch Dare Card Challenge want us to decorate the inside of our cards; Truly Scrumptious want cards with more than one fold and finally Cute Card Thursday's theme is "Nip and Punch" (to use punches/die cuts)

The flowers were from a blog candy I won recently, the PB image is a stickeroo, design paper is by SU, the clear button on the front is also SU the ribbon is from stash and the photo corner is a Quickutz die. The card is quite small, only 10cm square, it's cute and dinky!!

Well today is the school's sports day so of course it is drizzly! its such a shame we're not having much luck with our school events this year. Lily is so excited though I think she would be willing to race in a blizzard lol If I get some pics I will post them later :o)

JCBC week 35

Morning girlies...............what has happened to Summer eh? The sun has disappeared and the rain is back in force, great for the garden but not so good for the school fete on Friday and the village fete down at my mum's on Saturday!! The school fete was still a success...........everyone just braved the rain and the main stalls were put inside the school hall. Not heard how much we made yet but it's usually a fair amount and helps get the things the school can't afford to buy with the budget :o)

This week over at JCBC the sketch is by Simone. It has lots of potential and I bet you'll love it.
